We arrived safe and sound in Port Au Prince, Haiti this afternoon. It is sweltering hot! 94 to 95 everyday and when you factor in the humidity the heat index is around 110! It’s hard to describe the conditions here. The average annual income in Haiti is $370. 50% of the population makes less than $60 a year. Add the devastating effects of the earthquake and you have a population of 9 million people in dire need.
But the love of Jesus is shinning forth in this dark land making an eternal difference! Tomorrow morning we’ll have breakfast at 6:00 and then head out to build housing for families to live in. Everywhere you go you see thousands of tents with tens of thousands living in the worst of conditions. Through medical teams and constructions teams the love of Jesus is being demonstrated in a very tangible way.
On our way to the compound we passed a mass grave where 80,000 Hatians are buried, killed during the earthquake. On top of that now the cholera outbreak is claiming more lives. But the love of Jesus is shinning forth in this dark land making an eternal difference!
I’m so honored to pastor a church that gives a rip. I’m so grateful to join in this kingdom work with you all. To God be the glory!
